RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Legislation that prohibits North Carolina production and possession of smokable hemp subsequent year though laying regulatory groundwork to expand the state’s industrial and medicinal hemp sector has cleared a second legislative chamber.
The Property voted 63-48 on Wednesday for the Basic Assembly’s annual farm bill.
Smokable hemp lacks the concentration of the compound that provides marijuana its higher. But law enforcement desires smokable hemp banned simply because it appears and smells the same— creating it otherwise not possible to differentiate throughout police stops.
The bill now returns to the Senate, exactly where a version currently passed but the measure’s best backer desires the ban delayed till subsequent June.
