Massachusetts Orders Adult-use Cannabis Sales To End Early As Coronavirus Cases Surge

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has issued a new executive order that requires the early closure of certain businesses and activities every night at 9:30 pm. This includes ending adult-use cannabis sales in the state by the stipulated time.

The 9:30 pm closure requirement is aligned with a ‘Stay At Home’ advisory issued earlier. Together, the two new initiatives are designed to further limit activities as Massachusetts grapples with a second wave of COVID-19 cases.

Public health data has indicated that coronavirus cases in Massachusetts are rising, with cases up by 278 percent and hospitalizations up by 145 percent since Labor Day.
The ‘stay at home’ advisory requires all residents of Massachusetts to stay home between 10 pm and 5 am.

The new executive order regarding early closure of businesses requires all adult-use marijuana sales in Massachusetts to end daily at 9:30 pm. However, sales of medical marijuana are exempted from the curfew.
