New rankings! Marvin Vettori crashes the Leading 5 after big win at UFC Vegas 16

Ultimate Combating Champion (UFC) just recently staged UFC Vegas 16 on ESPN+ last weekend (Sat., Dec. 5, 2020) inside UFC PINNACLE in Las Vegas, Nevada, including a Middleweight bout that saw Marvin Vettori stun Jack Hermansson after 25 minutes of action.

” The Italian Dream’s” upset win over “The Joker” sufficed to move him up 8 areas on the main UFC rankings to declare the No. 5 area at 185 pounds. When it comes to Hermansson, the defeat costed him 2 notches.

In addition, following his huge knockout win over previous UFC Light Heavyweight title competitor, Ovince Saint Preux (see it here), Jamahal Hill made some love from the panel, which provided him the No. 15 area, a lead that formerly came from, you thought it, “OSP.”

Here’s a refresher on how the rankings work, thanks to UFC.com:

Rankings were created by a ballot panel comprised of media members. The media members were asked to choose who they feel are the leading fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is just qualified to be voted on if they remain in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight department at a time. The champ and interim champ are thought about to be in the leading positions of their particular departments and for that reason are not qualified for voting by weight-class. Nevertheless, the champs can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Have a look at what the current rankings field appears like thanks to UFC.com. Keep in mind: (+/- = motion in rankings, T = tie, * NR = Not formerly ranked).
