JACKSON, Miss. (AP)– A court battle threatens to obstruct a Mississippi medical marijuana program prior to the program even starts.
Citizens on Nov. 3 authorized a medical marijuana effort by a large margin– about 58%, according to accredited outcomes. The effort modifies the state constitution, needing the Health Department to set guidelines and start the program by mid-2021.
Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler opposed Effort 65 due to the fact that it restricts cities’ capability to control the place of medical marijuana services. The Republican mayor took legal action against the state days prior to the election, arguing that the effort was not correctly on the tally due to the fact that of the variety of signatures collected.
